By car

• The principal route is along the valley floor, taken by the SS445 main road, together with stretches of minor road from Gallicano to Ponte di Campia and from Castelnuovo to Piazza al Serchio. This route follows the line of the valley: in a south-easterly direction, towards the Valley of the Serchio and the plain of Lucca, and towards the Lunigiana, in the north-west.
• Those who travel from the north should use the exit at Aulla on the A15 Parma-La Spezia motorway and then proceed along the SS445 main road of the Garfagnana ( 49km to Castelnuovo).
• Other access routes are: to the west, the tunnel of the Cipollaio on the minor road of Arni that connects with Versilia and, to the east, the Passo ("pass") di Pradarena ( 130 km from Reggio Emilia) and the Passo delle Radici ( 125 km from Modena).

From Genova

• The A12 motroway in the southerly direction until the Versilia toll gate for north Versilia( Forte dei Marmi, Marina di Pietrasanta, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, Stazzema) and the Viareggio-Camaiore exit for south Versilia.

From Milano

• The A1 motorway until Fidenza. From there, take the A15 motorway (know as "Autostrada della Cisa") and follow the signs for La Spezia. At La Spezia, take the A12, in a southerly direction, until the Versilia toll gate.

From Firenze

• The A11 Florence- Mare motorway until Lucca, where you join the Bretella motorway for Viareggio.

From Roma

• The A1 motorway until Florence, then the A11 until Viareggio.

In treno

Versilia is crossed by the Rome-Pisa-Genoa-Turin railway line, with connections at Florence and Pisa. Lucca is on the Florence-Pistoia-Montecatini-Lucca-Viareggio line.
There are four railway stations in Versilia:

• Viareggio, for Viareggio, Torre del Lago, Massarosa
• Lido di Camaiore for all parts of Camaiore
• Pietrasanta, for all parts of Pietrasanta

By boat

the only landing place in Versilia is the port of Viareggio, with more than a thousand berths. The port has a geographical position of 10° 15' East longitudinally and 43° 51' North latitudinally, as shown on the nautical map 909/28 of the Naval Hydrographic Institute of Genoa.
